Battle Of The Can: Which Tool Really Wins Against Corn?

Me, my mind, and ADHD are sometimes not a good combo, but I got a laugh out of it. In desperate times come desperate methods.

A salad must have corn in it, right? or am I wrong?

Cucumber without the peel, bell pepper, cheese, apples, iceberg salad, pineapple, pasta, and either ham or chicken plus cheese. That’s my go-to when it comes to salad. I forgot red onion this time, but it’s fine. Cucumber without peel is because I have gallstones, and I am not in the mood to go to the emergency room today. Unfortunately I had no pineapple at home and forgot to buy it.

I went to the store today to buy ingredients to make exactly that dish for dinner. I had cheese at home, so I didn’t need to buy that.

While cutting, cleaning, and boiling the stuff, I remembered that I bought corn in a can (yes, I know it’s not so good and a lot of sugar but, hey, sometimes I want that lol!). So I looked for the can opener but its nowhere to be found.

So guess what I did instead 😂 It’s hilarious and I honestly got a few really good laughs.

How I Sneaked Around Like a Criminal… Just to Get THE Present for her

I ran around in Italy. I looked at tax-free at the airports and the stores at the airports, but I could not find it anywhere! I was heartbroken.

I’m a fan of the band Tokio Hotel, and in March I went to the capital of Sweden (Stockholm) and saw them live (again). As always, and after the concert I saw a lot of clips on TikTok from the concert when I stumbled across a girl named M (not sure if im allowed to write her name so i go with the first letter of her name). She was there and is also a huge fan of Tokio Hotel. We clicked instantly. She joined my live when I was live on TikTok, and all we spoke about was pretty much 99% Tokio Hotel.

Yes, I know I’m repeating myself. Fully aware of that. Haha!

We have been talking about our birthdays, Tokio Hotel merch, etc., a lot, so I called her (we spoke a lot on the phone when I was in Italy, so I have her number) and surprised her by saying that I’m coming to her when her birthday is. Tickets are ordered and done. I told her at the same time that I was ordering her birthday present, so she knew that I was doing that, but she didn’t know what it was, so I was sneaky sneaky.

M made a group chat on Messenger for her friends so it would be easier to update everyone on what ideas she had in mind to do for her birthday, and when I had ordered the gift and everything was done, I wrote in the chat (for fun). I had M on the phone, so I told her what I was going to write) that I had spent 2000SEK on M and her birthday.

2000 SEK is $210 USD / $322 AUD / 180 €

I sent her screenshots of updates of the delivery but covered where the present was from, and today she finally got it (even though her birthday is next month). It was a lot of hassle to get it out from the postbox. I couldn’t open the door to the postbox due to me being like 5 hours from her, so she got the login to the app so she could get it out. IT WORKED! haha!

What i bought her you can see on next page of this post (click on the number 2 in the box below)

Words And Sentences To Learn Before Traveling To This Beautiful Country

I had an idea to actually start a little series of posts with words and sentences to learn when visiting/traveling to Sweden.

I am a Swedish person, and I know many struggle with learning Swedish, and because I love to teach people, I decided to have fun and teach you Swedish!

Some sentences will be long so I recommend you copying the words and sentences and use an app or website so you can listen how they can be pronounced.

A bit of information about Sweden and the Swedes

Okay, whether if you have been to Sweden or are planning to travel here, you should know that we are very friendly and helpful. Most of us are honest people, so if you accidentally forgot something like a wallet, a piece of clothing, or so, we will turn the wallet over to the closest shop or police station. The clothing we will add to a higher spot at the same spot you dropped it. Not all are honest, though, so be prepared for that. Almost everyone of us who has Facebook will also post in the groups where you are in about the stuff.

Now to the class #1

Formal words & sentences and how to greet and interact with people.

Hej means Hello

Hej då means Bye

Hur mår du? means How are you?

Jag mår bra, tack! means I’m good, thank you!

Ursäkta, men var ligger X (the location’s name)? means Excuse me, but where is X (location name)?

Tack så mycket! means Thank you very much!

Transportation

Ursäkta, men jag ska till X (location) men vet inte hur jag tar mig dit. Kan du hjälpa mig? means Excuse me, I’m going to X (location) but dont know how to get there. Can you help me?

Buss means Bus

Tåg means Train

Spårvagn means trolly / tramp

Tunnelbana means Subway

Taxi is the same as Taxi on English

Let me know what words or sentences you would like to learn. Comment, and I will translate them to Swedish for you.

How long have I had the addiction for shopping? Well to be honest, my entire life. I buy stuff and get tired of them and throws them away. So I doesn’t become an hoarder.

But I was horrible and way worse before when I was a massive addicted. I just grabbed everything I wanted and bought. I have gotten better due to massive hard work on myself. Now i get stuff into my cart, think it through and ask myself if I really need it. Most of the time it’s no so I put things back  to it’s place. Unfortunately I noticed when it has come to photography and camera equipment I have become worse so now I must restart my brain and work hard again.

But Emma, why do you buy so much to your camera? I have two old cameras Canon 450D (my first DSLR camera) and one Canon 1100D . Due to them being old they doesn’t give me the sharpness I wish for or focus. So buying filters, tripods etc is something I hope would help me instead of needing to spend $$$$$  on a new camera.

I have googled around and watched youtubes on tips and tricks on how to get the pictures more sharp and it’s all about shutterspeed, aperture etc but honestly they also say “instead of buying a new camera because your camera are fine. Invest in equipments and lenses ” but due to the prices off lenses in Sweden, I will try equipment things first. Hopefully I will be able to buy lenses that will help me but the lens world is crazu big and I do not know which ones to pick.

I’m also trying to find my niche i  photography, trying different kinds styles. I know for sure that portraits ain’t for me.

so yeah, a little backstory of my confession. I might continue with this and make it a series. I have a lot of confessions and it actually felt good to write this even though it was a mix of confession and photography.

5 things… photography edition, including death

okey so my “five things challenge” continues and in this post we gonna talk about photography related things that is in my top five.

starting with

●●●●●●●●●●●  Niches.

People talk about having niches on pretty much everything ~ social media, blogs, cameras, youtubes etc. But why? Fine I get the part of “you stand out more and can focus on your niche” but for someone with ADHD like me and a gazillion thoughts in my head I can not just pick one. So what are my niche when it comes to photography? Nature! Nature, landscape and macro/details.

It has always been that ever since I started with photography back in 2004..til I lost my passion (more below).

but why nature, landscape and macro? well to be honest, I tried to take portraits and of people but I felt very uncomfortable taking pictures of people (except my son) so I stopped. I tried one wedding but no. It wasn’t for me. Nature photography makes me relax. I need all relaxation as I can get.

●●●●●●●●●● Equipment

As much as I wish I could just buy the latest cameras with lenses etc  I have a old but gold camera. I have my 450D (had since forever. It was my first DSLR camera) and the recent 1100D (I had one before but gave away..). And for me they are good..  if remembering the shutters, AFs etc.. lol!

lenses? I have four lenses but have recently fell in love with the new lens I got . It’s a Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM . . A cute little lens that works on landscape and close up.. though I must get a closeup filter (to get more close up).

●●●●●●●●●● Slowly finding my passion again

I started photography when I was 14. I think I was 16 when I bought my own system camera (DSLR) ~ Canon EOS 450D . I could be out for hours and hours just taking pictures, walk outside in the forest (with my heart in my nose due to scared of forest and it’s surprises)  lay on the ground to get closer to objects. Use shit tons of equipment just to get that one photo..

I stopped doing photography for a while but found it again (I did not use the camera. I used my then phone) and kept taking photos, edit on phone and added to social media… til the time when my parents passed away.. I lost my passion for photography. I didn’t feel joy, or happiness when taking pictures anymore.

with death, u go through stages of grief but unfortunately I had to go through them fast to.. yeah..  family problems.

but recently I have found a little spark of the passion again so I decided to buy a new camera and start again. Slowly, slowly my passion is coming more and more.

●●●●●●●●● Future & Photography

Hopefully in the future, the passion for photography is still with me and that I’ve learned so much more so I could take really good photos. Maybe travel the world to capture stories with my photos.

• my dream is after all to become a photographer for national geographic ~ LOL! a girl can dream right?

●●●●●●●●● How’s it having ADHD & Photography a good combo?

Because ADHD people has too many tornados in their head and for this woman with ADHD, photography helps calming her head down for a bit. for a while. A good de-stress hobby. On same time (if you photo landscape & nature) you get to go outside to get fresh air and exercise.  So win win situation for me.

best advice..

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

well.. best advice I have ever gotten was from my mother who told me and my siblings growing up “always stand alone with your name on contracts for apartments etc”. with that she meant to never co-sign it with your partner unless it’s about a house, loan and mortgage (if been together for years)

My mom was always scared for us girls (we are 4 sisters and 1 brother) with everything from school to the partners in life we would have. She said this advice to us so we would never become homeless if we ever moved together with our partner.

Our mom also said the same advice but also added sometimes things.. like “if you have kid/s with the partner, you and the kids are protected and have roof over your head”. Which is true.

how about you? Best advice?

this advice may sound weird but I think she got a point. If you break up with your partner you are protected to have a home.

What makes you the most happy?

In my notepad on my phone I have questions I found online that I thought could he fun to answer here.on my blog. You can get to know me and I can continue be personal and be myself.

Copy the question in bold and make a post with your answer on your blog. Tag me and I will read  like and comment 🥰

What makes you the most happy?

Honestly, a lot of things make me happy. My son and family. Makeup/skincare. Photography. Family quality time. School even though I’ve a hard time. Cooking&baking. Blogging. The sea.

What makes me the absolute most happy though? Watch my son grow up and become this bigger and proud boy of himself. Become the little young man he is.

How about you?

Fun facts | least favorite job

What was your least favorite job that you’ve ever had?

I have had a few jobs in my life. Just to try something new but also to grow as a person. I have worked in a burger restaurant (not McDonald’s etc) and to be honest, that was the most horrifying experience ever in my life. The sexual harassment, poor work environment, owner being inappropriate with some staff who were minors etc. I left instantly when I saw how it was. I worked on and off for a year (the boss texted the day before work telling it was time to work). Under pay, hard work, etc.

I’ve also worked at a senior home which I liked. I always liked helping people but where I have been has been toxic for me. The employees.  Wow. So I left that after so many lies and shit.

Working at the hospital I got “fired” from one place because I had neonred hair. So I was moved to an other location in hospital and I quit because of lies, the staff didn’t take alarms from patients so I had to run and take them and basically work one who department alone while the rest sat down.

Here’s three jobs I had and left. Why? Because I don’t focus on money and rather have a work environment that is not toxic and not giving me stomach ache.

note that I worked at these places for a long time before I left.

What’s on YOUR bucketlist?

Wow this had me thinking a lot! Kinda hard question to answer ~ Whats on YOUR bucketlist? (feel free to comment below what’s on yours!)

For years and years I have been adding and removing stuff from my bucketlist. I have completed some on the list. Removed those who seems impossible and not do-able. But what is really on my bucketlist?

Traveling is ofcourse on my bucketlist. Visit as many countries as possible. Especially Santorini (Greece), Mykanos, Kenya, Dubai, Abu Dabi, Spain, Canada, Bali and many more. Travel the world! Explore the wonders around earth. Try new exciting  things & food. To see the different cultures etc.

Career;  having a career that I feel like myself in. Preschool teacher, photographer or just something online (html codes etc). Everyone say I’m still young and don’t need to decide yet but really I have no idea. All I know is that “having a career” is on my bucket list.

Family; Move to a house with my son and husband. Maybe expand the family. Adopt (animals and children). Watch my child/ren (future) grow up and become the amazing humans they are.

Meet people who has common interest as me.

I have a lot on my bucketlist and it feels like it’s an Neverending list. But will I be able to achieve one or two of them? The ones that are on the list now.

Other things on my bucketlist are;

Adrenaline; go skydiving,  Bungee jumping

Animals; pet/hug an elephant (my favorite animal), Go on safaris in Africa etc. Save atleast one animal. See a raccoon irl (we don’t have those in Sweden)

Learn; Learn to fluently speak & write ~ Arabic, Spanish and punjab. How to calculate math (this will be a hard one). Learn real English with correct spelling and grammar.

Helping; Volunteer on some special cause, help build something for someone. Give someone a real chance in life (help a homeless find a job, a home and get back on its feets. I know I have seen to many movies and series)

I have actually more on my bucketlist but the post would be too long. Haha! but Whats on YOUR bucketlist? comment and tell me. Maybe we share same goals.
